What drives me nuts about sublet adds is that people don't realize you're supposed to give "some" information about the room you are trying to sublet. I don't know why people are too lazy to write more than the address (sometimes the nearest intersection! c'mon really? what are you trying to hide), the rent per month, and the term 'furnished' which has many shades as I've come to find out from my past subletting experiences. Ie., mattress on floor or boxspring, not even metal frame to put it above the floor. Yikes!
I feel like when I respond with a boatload of questions, that I'm really being picky/nosey but it's really because these ads people write holds peanuts of information. Some of which is up to interpretation and what I've also learned is that one person's interpretation of that term could be very different from anothers'.
Even better, I love when you ask a couple introductory questions about the room they're looking to sublet, and you get an e-mail being having IGNORED all those questions and asking you to tell them about yourself, what condition you want a room in, and how much you are willing to pay! Really...check yourself before you wreck yourself...or should I say lose a would be sublettor.
Currently, I have my eye on a place at Westmount/University Ave, Karen Walk/Keats Way (this one's a bit iffy but still seeing for myself), Phillips/Columbia (hope to be pleasantly surprised, hopefully!) and of course Lester Lofts...if people are willing to sell them for something other than mid 500s or even 600 as I've seen. :S
Last time I checked, I was expecting 'student' housing around university. I don't know where the idea of rich and student came together, but apparently I didn't get the memo.
